The faces of Catholic Charities at St. Thomas include a counseling office located on the second floor and an office for community assistance (especially immigration, disaster relief, and prison ministry) located in the Dulce Nombre de Maria Room.

COUNSELING  Mary Jo Pfeifer Wulf, MS. Ed., L.M.H.C.   296-2759

Mary Jo is a licensed mental health counselor.  Catholic Charities counseling accepts most insurance plans and has a sliding fee scale. Mary Jo enjoys working with individuals of all ages who want to work toward personal growth and change, deal with depression or anxiety, or work through past trauma. She also works with couples to improve their marital relationships.


Lisa Turner, L.M.F.T.  296-2759

Lisa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  Lisa counsels from a Biblical perspective, helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, interpersonal/relationship issues, divorce/separation, dissociation, and grief.  She also works with those living with chronic mental illness.  Lisa is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).


***NEW***COMMUNITY SERVICES       Catholic Charities established this office in 2014 to meet community needs on the west side of the Dubuque diocese.  Lori Williams staffs this office and welcomes both suggestions and volunteers for the diverse programs she coordinates.  We are happy to welcome her to Ames and to St. Thomas.

As Program Director, Lori oversees the Immigration Outreach, Pathway Partners, Jail & Prison Ministry, Disaster Services, and Refugee Resettlement programs, strengthening each of these programs to help meet the needs of individuals.
